5 Amazing iPhone Photography Tips

vrbo

The iPhone offers one of the best cameras on the market, but most of us can use some photography tips to make the best use of it. For some of us, no matter how good our smartphone’s camera is, it can be a struggle to get a good photo out of it.

If you’re quite serious about your photography, you may be tempted to buy a digital camera, but that won’t necessarily solve the problem and, in any case, it isn’t the most cost-effective way to improve the quality of your photography.

A couple of years ago, I went out and purchased a Canon EOS 2000D DSLR camera for $500. I’ve almost never used it, preferring my iPhone for ease of use, flexibility and convenience. As it turned out, the Canon wasn’t necessary for me at all and I could have saved my money.

Make Sure You’re Using the Right Settings

All smartphones have lots of photo and video settings which you can play around with to improve the quality of your pictures. Such features include things like low light modes, red-eye reduction, and different types of picture modes, such as panoramic shots, which can be especially great for capturing cool architecture.

Experiment With Different Angles

We take most of our pictures by holding our phone around our chest area, as this is the most natural and comfortable position. However, other angles, particularly low, upward facing angles, can be much more effective for certain types of pictures.

Experimenting with different angles and thinking outside the box can be a great and easy way to take better pictures, including pictures of people, high-rise buildings and nature.

Use Filters

Filters can be a good way to add some extra personality to your work, so it’s a good idea to play around with different filters to find one which best suits and enhances your snaps.

However, remember that many pictures look better with their natural lighting and color scheme, so you shouldn’t feel the need to put a filter on every single picture you take.

Photograph Reflections For Added Intrigue

Reflections can be used for a whole lot more than mirror selfies!

Photographing reflections is great for improving certain types of pictures, especially those of nature, as there are many different reflective surfaces to play around with, such as water and ice.

Convey Depth In Your Photos

The vast majority of professional photographers would agree that showing depth in a photo is a great way to make it more captivating and interesting, as it’s a sure-fire way to draw more attention to the picture and make it seem more “whole”.

There are many different ways to naturally make your photos convey depth, such as by using leading lines – such as roads and train tracks – or by including something in the foreground.

Of all our photography tips, this one is most applicable when taking a snap of nature or architecture, and it’s an awesome way to improve pretty much any picture which falls into either of these two categories.
